Alessandro & Erin
Without a doubt, one of my favourite weddings, but then again, when the bride is my cousin, it was always going to be.
By the time Erin and Sandro came to plan their wedding, they had attended about twenty of their friends' weddings since they started dating, so it was safe to say they had a fair idea of what they did and did not want for their special day.
I suppose there is an advantage to having attended so many weddings. You begin to appreciate the things that really matter, the details you remember long after the celebrations have ended, and perhaps a few things you would rather leave out altogether!
I remember the first time I drove up with them to see Sweet Home Weddings, and walking down the massive staircase to the venue below.
With so many of their friends having married before them, Erin and Sandro were running out of options to find a venue they could call their own.
We all knew instantly that this was the place.
There is something wonderful about that moment when a couple discovers their venue. After all the searching, discussions and weighing up of possibilities, suddenly everything begins to fall into place. You can almost see the celebration taking shape before your eyes.
Style House Florists showed us all why this mother and daughter team are so revered in the business, with their beautiful green and white floral designs.
The flowers complemented the setting beautifully, creating an atmosphere that felt elegant without being overly formal. Sometimes the most successful designs are those that allow the surroundings to speak for themselves.
However, my favourite touch came in the form of a beautiful, personal letter from Erin to each of the guests.
I thought this was such a thoughtful gesture. Weddings are often filled with elaborate details, but taking the time to acknowledge every person individually is something quite different. It reminded me that the most memorable elements of a celebration aren't necessarily the most extravagant.
Special thanks to Jolene and her team from Oh Happy Day for their onsite coordination throughout the weekend, allowing me to let my hair down and celebrate with the family.
