Zdravko & Melissa
Melissa and Zdravko had just one request: an intimate wedding for family and friends at home, which also happened to be a construction site.
Now, this is not usually what you expect to hear when a couple tells you where they would like to get married. An established wedding venue comes with its gardens, facilities and infrastructure already in place. A home in the middle of construction presents a rather different challenge.
But there is something special about celebrating at home. It is a place that belongs to you and, in this instance, was still becoming the home Melissa and Zdravko had imagined for themselves.
The challenge was to look beyond the construction and imagine what the property could become for one very special occasion. What might initially have appeared to be a logistical nightmare was, from a creative perspective, an incredible opportunity.
With the ultimate list of wedding industry suppliers, we transformed this incredible blank canvas into a true fairytale setting fit for royalty.
Unlike a traditional venue, a private residence is not necessarily equipped to accommodate a wedding, particularly in the middle of a building project. Every practical requirement had to be considered alongside the creative vision.
I love bringing talented people together, particularly on a project where imagination and problem-solving are equally important.
Special thanks to the insanely talented Heike and her team from Fleur le Cordeur, as well as Susan and Cathy from Weddings With Wow. Their creativity, experience and contribution to this celebration were invaluable.
What I love about a wedding at home is that, however elaborate the transformation, the occasion remains rooted in somewhere deeply personal. There is no need to invent a connection to the setting. It is already there.
And for all the work that went into transforming the property, the request at the heart of the celebration remained simple: Melissa and Zdravko wanted to get married at home, surrounded by family and friends.
It was such a pleasure working with you all to make Melissa's dream day a reality.
