Every couple dreams of blue skies and sunshine for their wedding, but honestly, if you are getting married in the Midlands, there is nothing better than a little mist on your wedding day.
Luckily, Cath and Riaan had both.
A truly extraordinary day for the most humble and happy couple I have yet to meet.
There is something about the Midlands that makes even the weather feel like part of the occasion. A little mist changes the landscape completely, and when the sunshine makes an appearance, you get the best of both worlds. I couldn't have asked for a more fitting setting for these two.
One of the loveliest parts of planning this wedding was working with Julia Ferrandi on Cath's wedding gown. It was an incredible experience, and such a pleasure to see the care and creativity that went into something so personal. A wedding dress is one of those details that carries enormous significance, and being involved in the process made it all the more special.
Cath and Riaan were refreshingly clear about what mattered most to them. They wanted their guests to be well fed. Not simply offered a little something to tide them over, but properly looked after and able to enjoy the celebration without anyone wondering when the next plate of food might appear.
And well fed they were!
One of my favourite additions was dessert from The Coastal Cone Gourmet Ice Cream. We had his-and-hers flavours and custom packaging created for the occasion, which gave everyone a little something personal to enjoy. I have a soft spot for details that are both thoughtful and delicious, and this certainly ticked both boxes.
What stayed with me most, though, was how little fuss Cath and Riaan made about themselves. They were simply happy to be getting married and to share the day with the people they loved. Between the sunshine, the mist, the wedding gown and, of course, the ice cream, there was a great deal to smile about.
It was a joy to be part of their day.
