Wesley & Elaine introduction

Wesley & Elaine

I have been lucky enough to call Wes and the Johnson family friends since we were young boys running around the Umlalazi River and Umhlanga Beach causing chaos.

Some friendships go back so far that it's difficult to remember a time before them. We've shared countless memories over the years, and I suspect there are a few stories from those early days that are probably best left untold!

So, it was an incredibly proud moment to see him standing at the top of the aisle, waiting for his beautiful bride and soulmate, Elaine.

There is something quite different about attending the wedding of someone you have known for most of your life. You find yourself thinking about all the years that have brought you to that particular moment, and how wonderful it is to witness the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

A true modern-day love story, these two have already overcome many of life's trials and tribulations with the support of their family and friends, and most importantly, their love for one another.

I have always admired people who manage to face life's challenges without losing their sense of humour or their enthusiasm for what lies ahead. And if there is one thing that stands out about Wes and Elaine, it is the wonderful energy they bring to the people around them.

Their wedding was a reflection of the bright zest for life they share, and a celebration of the best things yet to come. An intimate family affair overlooking the picturesque Indian Ocean.

With the ocean stretching out before us and the people closest to them gathered together, the occasion felt wonderfully personal. There was no need for unnecessary extravagance. The setting, the company and the significance of the day were more than enough.

For me, it was particularly special to look around and see familiar faces, people who had been part of our lives for so many years, coming together to celebrate two people we all love.

And after all these years, it was rather lovely to see one of my oldest partners in crime finally meet his match!
